Celebrating International Women’s Day

IWD-logo-portaitepsToday marks the 105th anniversary of International Women’s Day (IWD). This international recognition day is dedicated to celebrating the extraordinary social, economic, cultural, and political advancements women have made, across the country. The 2016 IWD campaign theme focuses on celebrating progress towards gender parity.

A prediction made by the World Economic Forum in the 2014 Global Gender Gap Report states that gender parity won’t be achieved globally until 2095. This year’s campaign encourages everyone, men and women alike, to take a pledge to help achieve worldwide gender parity. This initiative is in an effort to drive more inclusive and diverse cultures and establish worldwide gender-balanced leadership.

The Jabil Joules team is proud to celebrate and promote International Women’s Day, as embracing diversity is an extremely important component of our culture at Jabil. From submitting nominations for STEP Ahead Award recognition, our numerous social and environmental responsibility programs in Asia and the Americas and our Jabil Joules Europe initiative, we are constantly exploring new ways of recognizing, empowering and investing in the success of our female employees worldwide.

Two upcoming events include April Butterfield, Senior Director of Technology, speaking to the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Women in Technology International (WITI) about her expertise in the Internet of Things (IoT). In addition, on March 18, a Jabil Joules Power Hour event at the Jabil Headquarters in St. Petersburg will feature Loretta Calvin, Chief Strategist of Monroe Consulting Group and current president of the the Florida Diversity Council, Tampa Bay Chapter, who will share her knowledge on diversity and inclusion strategies.

One Response to Celebrating International Women’s Day

  1. Carlos Reyes says:

Well, I just want to say that I am so proud to be the father of a young and brave teen girl, who inspires me day by day, she is so independent and intelligent, she knows what to do all the time, which it’s not a surprise because I know she is capable to do so and more, I wish her health, happiness and success in her life and it is a honor to be her father, I really love her.

Congratulations to all women around the globe!
