Clare Ferguson: Fast, Effective Training at Zero Cost

Since joining Jabil in 2013, Ferguson’s favorite part of our company’s culture is the opportunity to develop people. That’s exactly what her and her team did when they established a fully functional trained and knowledgeable workforce.

One of Jabil’s core values, “Think Creatively and Innovate” aligns perfectly with how Ferguson and her team were challenged to customize a training program for manufacturing team members in a timely manner.

The Waterford site required 68 trained Manufacturing Team Members in place by May 2014. Due to the recession in Ireland, however, there was a lack of local available candidates with Healthcare experience.

Her team solved this problem by engaging with a local government training agency to devise and deliver the Bespoke Healthcare Training Programme, embracing Jabil’s “think creatively” culture. The government-funded program included an accredited course that educated` and developed unemployed individuals to the Nypro Healthcare standard, ensuring trainees were “job ready” by May.

“The participants got a second chance at not just a job, but also a career at Nypro,” said Ferguson, during her presentation at the 2015 Deliver Best Practices Competition.

Ferguson represented her team in the Human Development category of the Deliver Best Practices competition.
